Here are some Pictures from Tri-O-Rama 2007. We thank the participants and volunteers who made Tri-O-Rama 2007 a success.
Event DescriptionsAcceleration: A timed run from a standing-start over a one-eighth to one-quarter mile distance, with only one car at a time on the track. Participants get a minimum of three runs, with the shortest elapsed time used to determine standings within the class. Trophies are awarded for each class following procedures outlined in the National Event Rules. Participants must wear an approved helmet. Autocross: A low-to-moderate-speed driving event held on a parking lot or similar area. The course of gates, straightaways and turns is designated by pylons. The object is to traverse the course as quickly as possible without striking the cones or going off course. Drivers are permitted to walk the course beforehand to become familiar with the layout, the track surface, the turns and any unusual conditions. Trophies are awarded for each class following procedures outlined in the National Event Rules. Participants must wear an approved helmet. Concours d'Elegance: A showing of cars prepared and cleaned to appear as close to showroom condition as possible. Cars are classed in accordance with rules established by the National Events Committee. The event is judged and trophies are awarded for Best of Class, Best of Show and Judges’ Choice. In Show Class, the entire car is judged. In Street Class, everything except the undercarriage is judged. There are two new classes: Custom Class is for any car that has been modified for appearance or performance so that it is no longer authentic; Silver Star Preservation Class is for cars over 25 years old that are in original, unrestored condition. The Silver Star class is not judged but certificates will be presented to qualifying cars. The event may also include a (non-judged) Display Class. The only award for Display Class is the People's Choice trophy, which is based on votes cast by the viewing public. Defensive Driving: A series of small specific courses, usually described by pylons, which are designed to improve driving skills and assist the driver in better understanding how his/her car will react during turning and threshold braking. When possible, one of the courses is a skid pad which is used to teach how to retain control of the vehicle and correct slides and skids. Most of the courses are low speed events and are recommended for all drivers even if they will not be entering the autocross or track events. An approved helmet is recommended. Performance Driving School: A noncompetitive, instructional school. With 10 or more cars on the track at one time, safety is a primary concern and drivers must attend a classroom session before being allowed to drive on the track. During track sessions, qualified instructors ride with each student until the student is judged to be ready to drive solo. The emphasis in track sessions is on handling, control, braking, and proper use of the hands and eyes. There are established rules for one car passing another. Participants must wear an approved helmet. Rally: Sometimes called a gimmick rally, this event is run on public roads and participants are expected to obey all traffic laws while running the course. Teams consisting of a driver and a navigator are given a set of instructions that include the route to be followed. Some route information may be presented as riddles or puzzles, and teams typically have to fill in blanks on their instruction sheet based on information found along the route. Total miles traveled, time used, and answers to questions found in the instructions all count toward the final score. Trophies are awarded for the best scores and are presented to both driver and navigator. Time Trials: A timed event run on a racetrack. Each participant gets a warm-up lap, three consecutive timed laps, and a cool-down lap. Two or three cars may share the track, with cars started at intervals to make sure all drivers have a clear track. The fastest lap recorded is used to determine each participant's standing within class. Trophies are awarded for each class following procedures outlined in the National Event Rules. If an instructor is available, participants may ask to have one ride with them during their timed laps. All participants must wear an approved helmet, and must have completed both Defensive Driving and Performance Driving schools. |
