Mercedes-Benz Club License Plates for Virginia!
Attention Virginia Mercedes-Benz Club of America Members. Here's your chance to help us create a MBCA-related Virgina special license plate similar to the ones available to members who reside in Maryland! Virginia MBCA members will now have a chance to show off their pride in membership in the Mercedes-Benz Club of America through official Virginia State license plates. The tags will include the MB club logo, then the letters “MB” followed by a four number sequence starting at 1001 up to 9950. Numbers will be issued sequentially and there is no way to request a specific number. To make this happen, we need 350 pre-paid applications. Club members can order the new tags for any legally registered car they own. Your E Class daily driver, your weekend SL, your UNIMOG, or even that old beat up American pickup truck you use to haul Mercedes-Benz parts from the junk yard! Owners of multiple cars can have as many MBCA tags as they have cars. This program is not limited to only Mercedes-Benz badged vehicles; every car you register in the state of Virginia can sport a MBCA logoed tag. Sorry, neither commercial nor vanity plates are available through this program. Here's how to participate:
GWS will combine the funds into one check for submission to the DMV in January when the General assembly passes the law. That way you do not have an un-cashed check sitting out there. Should we be unsuccessful in getting the tags approved, we will refund your $10. The organizational aspects of getting 350 prepaid forms may seem daunting, but Greater Washington Section member Ben Weber has started the process by getting the required support from three of Virginia's elected officials for a new law to be written in the next General Assembly session authorizing the DMV to create a new plate for our MBCA members. We ask that club members who want plates fill out and send in their application and $10 per plate to Ben Weber as soon as they can, so we can submit the required number of applications and payment to the DMV as soon as the law is enacted by the General Assembly (we expect that to be in January 2011.) From there, Ben will handle the paperwork with the State and provide monthly updates to all the VA section Presidents on the status of the program. The process is expected to take nine months thus we, as residents of this great state, are giving birth to a need look for all our great cars. Please bear in mind that this program is for all Mercedes Benz Club members in good standing in our great Commonwealth. It should be stated that these are considered custom plates and come with a $10 annual fee which will be charged directly to you during the yearly renewal process. For more information or if you have additional questions, contact Ben via email or call him on 540.662.0852 or 888-662-1224 |
